Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters was established to help ensure that the voices of all voters are heard. The organization makes a difference in the community by advocating for equality and other social justice matters. With a grant from Progressive Multiplier, Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters set out to build a scalable fundraising model focusing on recurring monthly gifts.
Part of their grant included support from the Atlas Center for Nonprofits to establish a fundraising infrastructure, data management systems, and equitable leadership development. This capacity-building work is designed to lay a foundation for future revenue generation projects.
With help from Atlas, Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters, created a fundraising database, allowing them to manage and track individual giving and giving prospects. They also launched efforts to incorporate fundraising into community events by selling event merchandise and collecting attendees' email addresses. This allowed them to build a fundraising and cultivation pipeline with new contacts.
Based on work from the grant, Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters has five new offerings, representing $150,000 in revenue opportunity. Once launched, the recurring giving program is anticipated to raise $4,000 monthly from 75-100 individuals giving $10 to $50 per month.
Harriet Tubman Freedom Fighters was established to help ensure that the voices of all voters are heard. Their first project was an outreach program regarding voting access barriers in underperforming precincts of underrepresented communities.
