Jane Addams Senior Caucus: Developing Two New Revenue Streams

Written by Progressive Multiplier | Sep 29, 2023 9:25:13 AM

Jane Addams Senior Caucus (JASC) is a multiracial, grassroots organization of seniors in the Chicagoland area working toward a world where all seniors can age with dignity and safety, free of ageism, racism, and other forms of oppression. With a grant from Progressive Multiplier, they are working on a strategy to generate funds outside of membership dues through two revenue streams: creating and distributing a subscription newsletter and an Associates Board that will raise money on behalf of the organization.

ASC has developed the structure of its Associates Board, which requires members to raise or donate $5,000, and a commitment memo that outlines roles and responsibilities. After researching potential members and extending asks, they have commitments from eight individuals and are seeking two more. Their next objectives are to provide board members with training and resources as they begin to fundraise among their networks.

They are creating a content plan, subscription structure, messaging, and a roll-out plan to launch the newsletter. The publication will appeal to those in the senior and housing industries and serve as a potential point of entry for new donors.

In year one, JASC hopes to raise $10,000 from newsletter subscriptions and $50,000 through their new Associates Board.

This project is in progress; final results will be shared in a case study later.
