Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund: Engaging Monthly Donors

The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to end discrimination and achieve equality for transgender people, particularly those in our most vulnerable communities. Fueled by a grant from Progressive Multiplier, TLDEF is creating a monthly donor program incorporating a strong community component. 

To successfully launch this program, TLDEF has increased their staff capacity in both development and communications, created a new customer relationship management (CRM) system, and deployed updated systems and processes to build and strengthen donor relationships. They will test messaging and social media strategies to reach new audiences and convert them to donors. In addition, to re-engage lapsed donors and move them up the engagement ladder, and convert one-time donors into sustainers, they are launching a novel newsletter email program. 

TLDEF is focused on growing independent revenue from individual donors that will provide sustained, long-term support as the organization continues to grow and deepen its impact in achieving legal and lived equality for trans and non-binary people nationwide.

Their strategies include pathbreaking trans rights cases and "friend of the court" briefs regarding the key issues of employment, health care, education and public accommodations.
