Engage Miami Civic Foundation: Storytelling To Grow Major and Monthly Donors
Engage Miami Civic Foundation is the oldest, largest, and most impactful Florida-based youth organizing and voter registration organization, led by a base of young Black and Latinx voters and leaders. With a grant from Progressive Multiplier, Engage Miami is developing a storytelling campaign to build a low-dollar sustainer program and a major gifts program.
In an effort to reduce their dependence on foundation grants, Engage Miami is creating a quarterly newsletter featuring stories of young leaders advancing civic engagement that will be used on social media as a fundraising tool. They are also creating a video to better share their mission, and establishing an e-store to sell merchandise. To date, they have planned and hosted a fundraising event and have another scheduled for late September. By employing these and other new tactics, they are growing fundraising strategies for the future while increasing brand awareness and recognition.
Through this project, Engage Miami hopes to gain 15 new major donors giving $1,000 and above, 60 new mid-level donors giving $100-$999, and 100 new small dollar monthly donors giving an average of $15 — for a total of more than $100,000.
Founded in 2015 by a group of dedicated local organizers, Engage Miami has grown to be the oldest, largest and most impactful Florida-based youth organizing and voter registration organization. Engage Miami builds independent civic power with their base of young Black and Latinx voters and leaders across South Florida, with plans to continue their growth.
This project is currently in progress; final results will be shared in a case study at a later date.
