Poder Latinx: Digital Strategy for Community Contribution
Poder Latinx, a civic and social justice organization dedicated to building and strengthening the political power of the Latinx community in key battleground states and nationwide, wanted to capitalize on its individual donor list and growing digital and on-the-ground presence. Using a grant from Progressive Multiplier, Poder Latinx invested in cleaning their data files by adding staff capacity within their communications and development teams.
With the knowledge that 63% of Latinx households give to charity, Poder Latinx recognized the need to be more targeted in fundraising appeals to effectively reach this audience and drive a culture of contribution and civic engagement.
With these additional resources, they could research and test best practices and launch a paid media advertising partnership on the website for El Tiempo, Colombia’s most widely read national newspaper. They started by piloting the ads, which used culturally relevant donor messaging, to target the Latinx community in Arizona.
After seeing success, they expanded their reach to Georgia and Florida.
Poder Latinx raised $47,995 from 8,736 donors, far exceeding their original goal of $22,000. Integrating their voter engagement efforts with revenue generation yielded the strongest results: They saw the highest donations when all departments consistently used the same link to share content across platforms.
Through this project, Poder Latinx created a library of assets that could be recycled throughout the year, allowing them to sustain their fundraising efforts and act swiftly.
